1. How do I transfer securities / account from another brokerage?
It's easy to transfer an existing account to MF Global Inc. If you don't have an account at MF Global Inc., open a new account and specify that you want to transfer an account from another brokerage firm. You may transfer securities to your MF Global Inc. account by completing an account transfer form or ACAT, which may be downloaded from our document center. Attach a copy of your last monthly statement and send it to MF Global Inc. A firm to firm transfer takes between 7 and 10 business days once we have been notified. 2. Can I request a partial account transfer?
You may transfer specific securities from your existing brokerage account. Designate on the Account Transfer Form which you can get from our document center that you want a partial transfer. List the actual positions you want to transfer in the designated space.
3. Can I still trade securities that I am transferring from another brokerage during the transfer?
Once you submit an account transfer form, your account will most likely be frozen at your existing brokerage firm. Attempting to trade any securities you are transferring may delay the transfer process..
4. Can I transfer a margin account to MF Global Inc.?
You may transfer a margin account to MF Global Inc. However, the account being transferred must meet MF Global Inc.'s minimum margin requirements.
5. What if my options are expiring in the near future and I want to transfer an account?
We do not advise that you start an account transfer shortly before expiration if you have options expiring. It is likely that you will not be able to access your positions during the transfer. Front month options cannot be transferred. We recommend that you either close out your front month option position or complete a partial transfer.
